On April 26, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Transport in April, the relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Transport said that at present, 3,102 expressway service areas across the country have built charging and swapping infrastructure, and a total of about 13,374 charging piles have been built. These are mainly concentrated in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and other eastern regions, with relatively low coverage in the western and northeastern regions. Recently, the Ministry of Transport and the National Energy Administration and other departments have drafted an action plan to accelerate the construction of charging infrastructure along the highway. At present, the action plan is soliciting opinions from various places.

The Ministry of Transport has always attached great importance to the construction of charging facilities along the highway. Since 2014, a number of documents have been issued to deploy additional charging facilities in expressway service areas. In 2021, the green travel "continuity project" will be listed as one of the practical facts of transportation that is closer to people's livelihood, and promote the construction of charging piles (stations) in transportation service stations such as expressway service areas in key areas such as major urban agglomerations and metropolitan areas. ) to facilitate long-distance green travel for the masses.
According to statistics, at present, 3,102 expressway service areas across the country have built charging and swapping infrastructure, and a total of about 13,374 charging piles have been built, mainly in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and other eastern regions, and the western and northeastern regions are covered. rate is relatively low. Compared with the rapid development of new energy vehicles, the charging facilities along the highway are indeed lagging behind in development, and the number of installations is insufficient and the coverage is insufficient.
In order to serve the national "dual carbon" strategy, facilitate the production and life of the masses, and speed up the construction of traffic that is satisfactory to the people, this year, the Ministry of Transport will accelerate the construction of charging infrastructure along the highway. Recently, the Ministry of Transport, together with the National Energy Administration and other departments, has studied and drafted an action plan to accelerate the construction of charging infrastructure along the highway. Based on the principle of “universal, open, intelligent and efficient”, it will accelerate the formation of a network of charging facilities along the highway with “fixed charging facilities as the main body and mobile charging facilities as supplements” to continuously meet the growing demand for electric vehicle charging. At present, the action plan is soliciting opinions from various places. The Ministry of Transport will revise and improve it according to the feedback, and issue it to all localities as soon as possible to promote the effective coverage of the charging infrastructure network along the highway.
